Underbelly grew from an INKTOBER challenge, in which struggling artist Aeival Prief was challenged by his talentless and ungrateful children to draw cartoons for 31 days. It was too much fun to stop. Underbelly soon grew to be available worldwide via a seldom-viewed Instagram account and has not been translated into at least a dozen languages.
